One avalanche in Val-Cenis, France, killed 4 Norwegian skiers. A Swiss skier died close to Chamonix. NEW
Three of the Norwegians have been killed immediately whereas a fourth, a girl, died in hospital after struggling extreme hypothermia and a cardiorespiratory arrest.
They have been half of a bigger group of seven skiers.
The remaining three have been unhurt.
“It was an avalanche of nice dimension which was triggered exterior the ski space,” stated the authorities.
A staff of 10 mountain rescuers was concerned within the search and rescue operation.
The Swiss fatality was a 30-year-old girl who was snowboarding along with her brother, who was taken to hospital for exams, and her father, who was unhurt.
All three had avalanche airbags and have been snowboarding off-piste within the Mont Blanc massif mountain vary.

After the current snow there was a Stage 4 danger (excessive) in some areas of the Alps.
The authorities are urging all folks venturing off piste to be accurately equiped and to train warning.
