Jose Aldo: 'I don't think I have it in me anymore'



Former two-time featherweight champion Jose Aldo might have fought for the final time. The Brazilian eliminated his gloves and seemingly introduced his retirement on Saturday following his UFC 315 loss to Aiemann Zahabi.

“To start with, thanks to Dana [White], to Sean [Shelby], to Lorenzo Fertitta, to all people for all the pieces that you’ve got given me,” Aldo stated instantly following Saturday’s battle at Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. 

“I do not suppose I’ve it in me anymore,” continued Aldo. “This was a tricky week. It wasn’t simply concerning the reducing of the load and all the pieces else. I simply felt there have been so many issues that occurred to undergo all of this.

“There was one level this week – this was a really robust week – that I felt that I did not have it in me. I did not wish to minimize anymore (weight). My physique stated, no, and I simply do not suppose I’ve it anymore. I do not wish to go into struggle on a regular basis and undergo this. I simply haven’t got it in my coronary heart anymore. I believe that is the final time you are going to see me. I can not do that anymore.”

Aldo is already a UFC Corridor of Fame member. He is was the inaugural UFC featherweight champion and nonetheless holds the file for probably the most featherweight title defenses with seven. He was the youngest champion in WEC historical past.
