PITTSBURGH — Jared Triolo homered and tripled Saturday for a season-high seven bases, because the Pirates defeated the Rockies for the second straight sport, profitable 5-1.
Triolo has hit higher since being recalled from the Minors on Aug. 1, slashing .303/.395/.430 over 20 video games via Saturday. That slugging quantity received a lift when he launched a two-run homer off of Kyle Freeland within the third inning, and he scored one other within the fifth when Bryan Reynolds doubled him dwelling after a triple.
Triolo completed 2-for-4 on the plate and saved a run within the second when he knocked down Kyle Karros’ floor ball, holding him to an infield single with Brenton Doyle on second.
As an alternative, the Pirates received on the board first when Andrew McCutchen pulled a house run to left within the second, his twelfth of the season.
Mike Burrows was fastball and slider heavy and picked up all 5 of his strikeouts with these two choices. He was pulled after 4 innings and 57 pitches, and allowed two hits and a stroll. Carmen Mlodzinski tossed two scoreless innings in aid and was credited with the win.
Paul Skenes (7-9, 2.16 ERA) will take the ball Sunday because the Pirates go for the sweep. First pitch is about for 12:05 p.m. ET.
