De Minaur moves on in Shanghai; Rublev upset


SHANGHAI — Seventh-seeded Alex De Minaur has superior to the third spherical of the Shanghai Masters with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Camilo Ugo on Saturday.

De Minaur misplaced to Jannik Sinner within the China Open semifinals earlier this week, the Australian’s eleventh straight loss to the Italian participant.

In different early matches Saturday, Yoshihito Nishioka upset Thirteenth-seeded Andrey Rublev 2-6, 6-1, 6-4, Twelfth-seeded Felix Auger-Aliassime beat Alejandro Tabilo 6-3, 6-3 and Kamil Majchrzak defeated Brandon Nakashima, the Twenty ninth-seeded American, 6-4, 6-0.

The highest-seeded gamers in Shanghai all acquired first-round byes.

Sinner, who went on to win the China Open in Beijing, was scheduled to play Daniel Altmaier later Saturday within the second spherical.

Prime-ranked Carlos Alcaraz, who received the Japan Open final week, introduced after his win in Tokyo that he wouldn’t play in Shanghai on account of minor illnesses.
