Hewett loses Masters final to world number one Oda


Nice Britain’s Alfie Hewett was soundly crushed by Japan’s world primary Tokito Oda within the males’s singles ultimate of the Wheelchair Masters.

Three-time former winner Hewett, 27, who was competing in his sixth Masters singles ultimate, was on courtroom for little over an hour as teen star Oda cruised to a 6-1 6-1 victory in Huzhou, China.

The 19-year-old defending champion, who beat Hewett’s doubles companion Gordon Reid in final season’s ultimate, continued his latest dominance in opposition to the world quantity two.

He claimed a thirteenth win in 22 matches in opposition to Hewett, whom he additionally beat on this season’s French Open and Wimbledon males’s singles finals.

These two finals adopted Hewett’s victory over Oda within the Australian Open ultimate in January, when the Briton claimed his tenth Grand Slam singles title.

Hewett additionally completed runner-up within the males’s doubles ultimate in Huzhou, dropping with Reid to Martin de la Puente and Ruben Spaargaren in a final-set decider on Saturday.
