The Wuhan Open returns to the WTA calendar in October.

The WTA 1000 event, final staged in 2019, is again on the WTA calendar set for October 7-Thirteenth, 2024.
Aryna Sabalenka is two-time reigning Wuhan champion. Sabalenka stopped American Alison Riske 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 within the 2019 Wuhan Open last for her second straight championship within the Chinese language metropolis.
The event was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic then the WTA pulled out of China in protest of the Peng Shuai abuse allegations and her subsequent disappearance.
“We’re delighted to announce the return of the WTA 1000 occasion to Wuhan, and reignite the fun of elite tennis competitors in certainly one of Asia’s most vibrant cities,” Jorge Salkeld, Senior Vice President of Octagon Tennis stated in feedback first revealed by China’s Xinhua information company and republished by Reuters.
