USA Swimming has introduced its 4 captains for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Katie Ledecky and Abbey Weitzeil have been chosen as the ladies’s crew’s captains, whereas Ryan Murphy and Nic Fink have been tabbed as captains for the boys’s crew, USA Swimming introduced.
Ledecky is headed to her fourth Olympics. She certified within the 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, 800 freestyle and 1500 freestyle. She has opted out of the person 200 freestyle, and can probably swim on the 800 free relay and maybe extra.
Ledecky is a person Olympic freestyle champion over 4 distances—200, 400, 800 and 1500. She has 10 complete 0lympc medals between the Video games of 2012, 2016 and 2020 – simply two complete medals away from the Olympic report for U.S. girls held by Natalie Coughlin, Jenny Thompson and Dara Torres.
Weitzeil is headed to her third Olympic video games. She certified for Paris as a relay swimmer on the 400 free relay. She has been a mainstay of U.S. sprinting. The previous two Olympics, she certified within the 50 and 100 freestyles and was a part of a number of medal successful relays.
Murphy is making his third Olympic journey. Within the 100 again, he held the world report for six years, and in 2023, the Olympic gold medalist captured the one accomplishment lacking on his résumé with a world title within the 200 backstroke.
Fink is headed to his second Olympics after qualifying within the 100 breaststroke. He has been within the medal combine the previous four-plus years within the breaststroke occasions and, like Murphy, shall be a lift to the U.S. medley relay in Paris.
