Golf Canada is deeply saddened by the lack of Previous President (1997) and Honorary Life Governor Frederick Alvin (Al) Macatavish, who handed away peacefully on August 29, 2024, on the Selkirk District Well being Centre in Selkirk, Man., on the age of 84.
Macatavish had an extended historical past of devoted service to golf, each in Manitoba and on the nationwide and worldwide levels.
He had been a member of Elmhurst Golf and Nation Membership since 1964 and served on the membership’s Board of Administrators from 1967 to 1979, together with a time period as President from 1976 to 1977.
Provincially, he was Elmhurst’s consultant to Golf Manitoba from 1978 to 1979 and served on the Board of Administrators from 1980 to 1988, together with a time period as President in 1985 and Previous President from 1986 to 1988. He was the non-playing captain for Manitoba’s 1983 junior males’s group and the 1985 Willingdon Cup group.
