Canadians Bianca Andreescu and Leylah Fernandez had been eradicated within the quarterfinals on the Toray Pan Pacific Open on Friday.
Andreescu was ousted after dropping a 6-2, 6-1 choice to Britain’s Katie Boulter.
Andreescu, from Mississauga, Ont., gained solely 45 per cent of factors on first serve within the match, which lasted simply 62 minutes. Boulter gained 87 per cent of first-serve factors. Boulter will subsequent play Russian Sofia Kenin within the semifinals on Saturday.
Leylah Fernandez of Laval, Que., fell 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 to top-seeded Qinwen Zheng of China later Friday. Zheng, the Olympic champion, will play Diana Shnaider of Russia, who superior in a walkover when Sayaka Ishii.
In girls’s doubles play, the top-seeded duo of Ottawa’s Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe of New Zealand posted a 6-1, 7-6 (4) quarterfinal win over Peangtarn Plipuech of Thailand and Chia Yi Tsao of Taiwan.
