LONDON (AP) — Chelsea expressed its disgust on Monday after Wesley Fofana was focused by racially abusive messages on social media after the 1-0 loss to Arsenal within the Premier League.
The French defender used his Instagram tales to focus on the discriminatory messages he was despatched on the platform on Sunday. They included racist phrases and monkey emojis.
“The abuse Wes Fofana has been subjected to following yesterday’s fixture is abhorrent and won’t be tolerated,” Chelsea stated.
The membership stated it was “appalled and disgusted” by the rise in on-line abuse towards its gamers and stated they’ve its “full help.”
“We’ll work with the related authorities in figuring out the perpetrators and take the strongest doable motion,” Chelsea stated.
Fofana began the match at Emirates Stadium and was substituted after 86 minutes.
