Lopez to stay as Davis Cup tournament director


4-time Davis Cup champion Feliciano Lopez will proceed to spearhead the premier males’s crew competitors because the match director of its knockout stage till 2027, the Worldwide Tennis Federation stated Tuesday.

The 43-year-old Spaniard oversaw the Remaining 8 in Malaga in 2023 and 2024 and can reprise his position through the subsequent three editions to be held in Italy.

“I am honored that the ITF has put its belief in me for the occasion’s long-term future and I am excited to work on it in Italy for the subsequent three years, beginning in Bologna this November,” former world No. 12 Lopez stated in a press release.

“I am positive that we are going to construct on our success in Malaga, and I’ll give every thing to proceed the expansion of the Davis Cup.”

The 2025 Remaining 8 will happen Nov. 18-23, with hosts Italy focusing on their third consecutive Davis Cup title.

They are going to be joined by seven nations following the second spherical of qualifying in September.
