In an article in regards to the 2024 Mammut and Black Diamond/Pieps beacon recollects, I stated that ARVA was the one main transceiver firm that hadn’t had a product recall. Sadly, that assertion solely remained true for just a few months as the corporate introduced a voluntary recall of their Neo BT Professional transceiver on January 21, 2025.
Arva summarizes the problem as a “faulty digital element” not caught by the standard management and certification processes that “could end in irregular battery consumption, which in some instances may cause the system to restart, rendering the transmission and search modes inactive.”
The difficulty was initially flagged by customers of the beacon and Arva confirmed the potential concern and that it’s restricted to the Neo BT Professional mannequin.
For those who personal the Neo BT Professional, Arva asks that you simply ship it in for testing and restore or substitute as-needed. Particulars on how to do this are on Arva’s recall web page.
