Ayumu Iwasa set to make F1 practice debut in Japan

Crimson Bull-backed junior driver Ayumu Iwasa will make his F1 debut at subsequent weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix, taking up Daniel Ricciardo’s automotive within the opening one-hour session.



Iwasa started racing competitively in 2014, and made his debut within the Japanese F4 Championship three years later. In 2020, he moved over to Europe to race within the French F4 sequence, and gained 9 races en path to successful the title.

At first of 2021 Iwasa was formally introduced as a Crimson Bull Junior, and he began competing within the FIA Components 3 sequence. His debut 12 months in F3 noticed the Japanese driver rating a win and one other podium end, and he ended the 12 months in P12 within the championship.

Iwase left the F3 sequence after only a single season to step up into Components One’s primary feeder sequence, the F2 championship. In his first 12 months, he scored two wins, two pole positions and a quickest lap. Final 12 months, he went on to safe three victories, one pole place and set three quickest laps.

The Osaka-born racer elected to go away Components 2 and moved again to Japan in 2024 for Tremendous Components, becoming a member of Staff Mugen alongside two-time sequence champion Tomoki Nojiri.

Crimson Bull have now introduced that Iwasa will drive for the staff in Japan, taking up Daniel Ricciardo’s automotive in Free Observe 1. It signifies that the RB staff will discipline an all-Japanese driver line-up within the opening one-hour session.

Commenting on the chance, Iwasa mentioned: “I am so excited to drive F1 automotive once more! and it is my first official session of F1. I am very wanting ahead to drive Visa Money App RB F1 Staff automotive in entrance of many followers there!”
