A helicopter from the California Freeway Patrol Coastal Division Air Operations was dispatched to Bishop Peak after hiker fell from the 1,546-foot volcanic plug.
Working with San Luis Obispo Hearth Division personnel who have been on the bottom, the H-70 helicopter hoisted the injured hiker to security. The hiker was transferred to an ambulance.
“H-70 responded and delivered a rescue machine to San Luis Obispo Hearth Division personnel, who then packaged the affected person for extraction. H-70 hoisted the affected person and delivered them to a close-by touchdown zone.”
