Canada’s Leylah Fernandez advances to quarterfinals at Japan Open


OSAKA, Japan — Canada’s Leylah Fernandez earned a 6-1, 6-4 win over Hungary’s Dalma Galfi on Wednesday in second-round motion on the Japan Open tennis match.

The fourth-seeded Fernandez, of Laval, Que., hit one ace to a few double faults however broke on three of her eight alternatives within the match.
