Chair Falls From Lift at Montana Snowbowl


A chair fell from the LaVelle double chair‘s loading space at Montana Snowbowl Sunday, the resort’s third day of operations for the season. “Earlier at present, an incident occurred on LaValle chairlift that required us to quickly halt raise service,” Montana Snowbowl stated in an announcement posted to Fb. “We’re grateful to report that no accidents occurred. Our upkeep division was capable of examine the raise and guarantee it was secure to function. LaVelle was then reopened to the general public for the rest of the afternoon.”

The incident is the newest in a string of unlucky mishaps involing Riblet lifts at Snowbowl. In March of 2023, a Riblet chair hit a tower and broke aside on the TV Mountain raise, inflicting a baby to fall. The Forest Service despatched a discover of noncompliance to the resort, stopping the raise from working till it was repaired for the next season. Previous to that incident, the Grizzly raise was rope evacuated as a consequence of an influence outage in February 2021. One other chair fell from the LaVelle raise in January 2020, requiring a rope evacuation.

Snowbowl plans to shut midweek this week and reopen on Friday, December twentieth.
