Doubles star Gabriela Dabrowski of Ottawa teamed up with Victoria Mboko of Toronto to steer Canada to a win over Denmark on Saturday in Group A playoffs of the Billie Jean Cup in Monterrey, Mexico.
Dabrowski and Mboko — who had performed a single match 20 minutes earlier than the doubles showdown — defeated the Denmark pairing of Emma Kamper and Johanne Christine Svendsen 6-2, 6-4 in 59 minutes to win the best-of-three showdown 2-1.

Mboko wanted one hour, 24 minutes to defeat Christine Svendsen 7-5, 6-3 and tie the best-of-three, Group A playoff match at 1-1.
“I simply needed to play it level by level and never rush myself, and simply imagine in myself,” Mboko mentioned throughout an on-court interview on how she dealt with the stress of Canada trailing 1-0.
Mboko had 11 aces and received 86 per cent of her factors on first serve. Her opponent had no aces, 4 double faults and solely transformed 63 per cent of her first serves for factors.
The Canadian received 5-of-12 break factors, whereas Christine Svendsen received 2-of-5 break factors, and saved 7-of-12.
Cadence Brace of Toronto misplaced a three-set heartbreaker to Rebecca Munk Mortensen within the opening match.
The 20-year-old Brace received the primary set 6-3, then dropped the subsequent two units 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4) in a match that took three hours, 41 minutes to play.
Brace had two aces and 6 double faults within the match, whereas Munk Mortensen had 4 aces and eight double faults.
Each gamers have been fairly even in all statistical departments. The Denmark participant had a slight edge in break factors received (7-of-14), break factors saved (15-of-23) and match factors saved (9-2).
Canada will play Mexico on Sunday in a winner-take-all showdown, with the winner advancing to the 2026 Qualifiers. Mexico beat Denmark 2-1 of their Group A playoff on Friday.
