Borg gained 66 singles titles, spent 109 weeks as world primary and claimed a report 41 successive wins at Wimbledon.
His retirement at 25 – a time when tennis gamers are beginning to peak – was a shock.
“I had sufficient. I misplaced the curiosity and the motivation,” he stated.
“If I knew what was going to occur within the years after, I might proceed to play tennis.”
In his autobiography, Heartbeats: A Memoir, co-written together with his spouse Patricia, the notoriously personal Borg speaks about his post-playing profession struggles.
“I had no plan. Individuals immediately, they’ve steering. I used to be misplaced on this planet,” he stated.
“There was extra medication, there was tablets, alcohol, to flee myself from actuality.
“I did not have to consider it. In fact it is not good, it destroys you as an individual.”
Borg was hospitalised after an overdose, exterior in Milan in 1989 – an incident which made him reassess retirement.
