The Detroit Lions aren’t finished including to their cornerback room. After signing each Rock Ya-Sin and Khalil Dorsey on Thursday, the Lions have reportedly signed veteran cornerback Avonte Maddox, as nicely.
Maddox was drafted within the fourth spherical of the 2018 NFL Draft and has spent all seven seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. Over that point he has primarily spent his time competing for the Eagles’ beginning nickel cornerback job, though he has some expertise taking part in on the skin as nicely. If he stays at nickel, he’ll seemingly compete with veteran Amik Robertson and 2024 second-round choose Ennis Rakestraw Jr. for enjoying time there.
Over these seven seasons in Philly, Maddox has performed in 81 video games and made 41 begins. He’s posted 36 passes defended, 4 interceptions, eight compelled fumbles, 3.0 sacks, and 270 complete tackles. At 5-foot-9, 184 kilos, Maddox matches the Lions’ mould of a bodily, undersized nook who isn’t afraid to get entangled within the run recreation.
Notably, Maddox is a Detroit native. He went to Martin Luther King Excessive College within the coronary heart of Detroit.
