The Dodgers chosen lefty reliever Jack Dreyer on Tuesday, including him to their 40-man roster forward of the deadline to guard prospects from the Rule 5 Draft.
Dreyer, who was an undrafted signing out of the College of Iowa in 2021, posted a 2.20 ERA between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma Metropolis this season. Throughout 57 1/3 innings, he struck out 72 hitters whereas strolling solely 12.
The Rule 5 Draft takes place annually on the Winter Conferences, with eligible prospects out there to be chosen by different golf equipment. Any membership that makes a variety should maintain that participant on its huge league roster for the whole season — in any other case, that participant should be supplied again to his authentic membership.
By including Dreyer, the 25-year-old lefty will now not be out there to be chosen by different groups in the course of the Rule 5 Draft on Dec. 11 in Dallas. Dreyer will be a part of the membership at huge league camp, although it’s unlikely he’d crack the Dodgers’ Opening Day bullpen.
