Emory Holds off NYU to Sweep UAA Championships Behind Speed, Depth


The Emory College males’s and girls’s swimming and diving groups swept the College Athletic Affiliation (UAA) Convention Championships.

The ladies’s meet was extraordinarily shut with Emory scoring 1,867 factors to complete simply 21 forward of New York College (1,846). Chicago was third (1,365.5), adopted by WashU (1,005), Carnegie Mellon (897), Case Western Reserve (850.5), Rochester (501) and Brandeis (322).

Marshall received the five hundred free (4:51.78). McIntyre received the 50 free (22.62), 100 free (48.58) and 200 free (1:46.15). Calista Lynch received the 400 IM (4:21.74). Ranile received the 100 butterfly (54.23), 200 fly (1:58.64) and 100 backstroke (54.08).

Ranile, Motekaitis, Oldham and McIntyre received the 400 free relay in 3:20.04.

Chicago’s Veronica Fong received 3-meter diving (494.25). Case Western Reserve’s Abigail Wilkov received 1-meter (482.65).

Carnegie Mellon’s Savannah Xu received the 200 backstroke (2:00.43).

The Emory males received with 1,682 factors. NYU was second with 1,586.5, adopted by Chicago (1,448), Carnegie Mellon (1,111.5), WashU (1,020.5), Case Western Reserve (810.5), Rochester (495) and Brandeis (322).

Emory’s Zachary Spicer, Henri Bonnault, Jeff Echols and Colin Zexter received the 400 medley relay (3:11.56). Nolan Lahmann, Bonnault, Echols and Dylan Yin received the 200 medley relay (1:27.81).

Emory’s Solomon Berkenwald received 1-meter diving with 504.10 factors and 3-meter (573.10). Ben Pritchard received the five hundred free (4:24.61). McKee Thorsen received the 200 free (1:37.65). Bonnault received the 100 breast (52.71). Liyang Solar received the 200 breast (1:56.50).

NYU’s Max Nechydyuk, Connor Vincent, Kevin Wu and Pierce Downs received the 800 free relay in 6:30.99. Nechydyuk received the 400 IM (3:49.35).

Chicago’s Jonathan Tang, Ben Catton, Rylan Kruep and Sebi Vernhes received the 200 free relay (1:19.77). Vernhes received the 50 free (20.09) and 100 free (43.63). Cooper Costello received the 100 fly (46.59) and 200 fly (1:44.31). Costello, Igor Benderskii, John Butler and Vernhes received the 400 free relay (2:55.11).

Carnegie Mellon’s Brayden Morford received the 200 IM (1:45.89) and 100 again (47.54).

WashU’s Kyle Wolford received the 200 again (1:44.67).
