Father Drowns After Saving 5 People From Rip Current in South Carolina | 11Alive

A Georgia father drowned after saving 5 individuals from a rip present at a seashore in South Carolina, in accordance with the Pawleys Island Police Division.

At roughly 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, police obtained a name for “a number of swimmers in misery” in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, and as soon as on the scene, they found one individual was lacking and a “search was initiated.”

Then at roughly 6:15 p.m., the physique of the lacking individual was discovered and recognized as 38-year-old Chase Childers, officers stated.

Officers later came upon that Childers — a former skilled baseball participant for the Baltimore Orioles’ minor league group and police officer — and one different particular person entered the water to assist a household of 5, with Childers getting “caught within the rip present.”
