Felix Auger-Aliassime, Denis Shapovalov retire from Swiss Indoors quarterfinals


BASEL, Switzerland — Canadians Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov each withdrew from their quarterfinal matches on Friday on the Swiss Indoors tennis event.

Montreal’s Auger-Aliassime, a two-time winner of the ATP 500 occasion, retired after shedding the primary set 6-3 to Spain’s Jaume Munar.

Later, Shapovalov of Richmond Hill, Ont., retired whereas down 3-6, 6-3, 4-1 to Brazil’s Joao Fonseca.
