Grant Enfinger and the No. 9 crew at CR7 Motorsports have been thought as fringe playoff contenders at the start of the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Sequence season, however they may be the sequence’ championship favorites after Saturday’s race on the Homestead-Miami Speedway.Â
Enfinger had already locked up his spot within the Championship 4 after his win at Talladega on Oct. 4, giving him over a month of additional preparation for the championship race at Phoenix. On Saturday, although, Enfinger and crew chief Jeff Stankiewicz pulled a rabbit out of their hat, executing the right technique to win their second consecutive race.Â
Enfinger was fast from the opening gun, ending sixth in Stage One and profitable Stage Two, whereas a gutsy name by Stankiewicz to go away his driver on the racetrack with restricted gas paid off. With nothing to lose by operating out of gasoline, Enfinger nursed his Chevrolet Silverado house, whilst Layne Riggs and Nick Sanchez ran out of gas from the top-five within the closing laps.Â
Enfinger crossed the road forward of Ty Majeski, Connor Mosack, Corey Heim and Tyler Ankrum. Stewart Friesen, Daniel Dye, Rajah Caruth, Christian Eckes and Taylor Grey rounded out the top-10.Â
The win was the second of the season for Enfinger and the No. 9 crew, and the query must be requested: Is Enfinger — a 39-year-old driver driving for an underfunded crew — the championship favourite?
