Kingsley Ibeh talks failed Fabio Wardley fight, prioritizes patience

Heavyweight Kingsley Ibeh, 14-2-1 (12 KOs), nearly discovered himself preventing Fabio Wardley in the UK. As an alternative, his coach bumped into passport points.

Talking to Lucas Ketelle of BoxingScene, Ibeh recounted the close to miss.

“We had a chance to go to the UK to combat Fabio Wardley. I used to be prepared for that, for him. I feel God saved him that point,” Ibeh stated, laughing.

“That combat was, I consider, two years in the past… I used to be able to go, however what stopped that combat from occurring was passport. My coach didn’t have his passport, and I consider within the U.S. it takes about two weeks to get the passport.

“I stated, you already know what, I used to be so keen to make that combat occur, I used to be gonna go and not using a coach. After which at that time in my time, my immigration standing, they’re like, ‘in case you go away with out coming again, it is likely to be tougher to get again.’ However the largest problem that that combat didn’t occur was on account of passport causes.”

Ibeh resides in Arizona however was born in Nigeria, and has solely ever fought in the US or Mexico.

He famous that getting a showcase alternative can take some time, referring to fellow heavyweight Martin Bakole needing to attend years earlier than taking advantage of his large second with a thunderous stoppage of Jared “Huge Child” Anderson (who stopped Ibeh in 2021).

Ibeh will subsequent combat Scott Alexander, 17-6-2 (9 KOs), on January 10.
