Notre Dame responds to battery accusation against Marcus Freeman

The Notre Dame Preventing Irish have denied an accusation of battery towards head coach Marcus Freeman.

On Sunday, Austin Hough and Kyle Smedley of the South Bend Tribune reported {that a} police report had been filed towards Freeman, stemming from an incident that occurred on Jan. 3 at Mishawaka Excessive College in Mishawaka, Ind. Freeman was attending his son Vinny’s wrestling meet and allegedly obtained into an altercation with New Prairie Excessive College assistant coach Chris Fleeger.

Notre Dame releases assertion

“Vinny Freeman, head coach Marcus Freeman’s son, was verbally accosted throughout and after his wrestling match by an area wrestling coach,” Notre Dame stated in an announcement (h/t ESPN’s Pete Thamel). “Marcus and Joanna Freeman intervened and eliminated Vinny from the state of affairs.

“At no level did Coach Freeman bodily have interaction with anybody. We consider that the police report, which incorporates video proof, absolutely exonerates Coach Freeman and makes clear these accusations are completely unfounded.”
