Oscar De La Hoya Declares Vergil Ortiz Jr. Has “Upper Hand” in Negotiations With Jaron Ennis After Lubin KO

Promoter Oscar De La Hoya made it clear to the media that Vergil Ortiz Jr. has the “higher hand” in any negotiations with Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis for a struggle following Vergil’s second-round knockout win over Erickson ‘The Hammer’ Lubin (27-3, 19 KOs) on Saturday night time on the Dickies Enviornment in Fort Value, Texas.

Calling the Pictures

Oscar says Vergil Jr. is the “higher man” going into the negotiations with Ennis, and which means he can name the photographs.

Golden Boy promoter De La Hoya repeatedly stated after the struggle that Ortiz Jr. (24-0, 22 KOs) will probably be calling the photographs within the talks for a struggle in opposition to Ennis. So, if there’s going to be a struggle between them, it’ll be on Ortiz Jr’s phrases. That could possibly be an issue as a result of Ennis is a star, and he’s accustomed to receiving favorable phrases.

Followers Scent a Dodge

De La Hoya’s remark about Vergil Jr. having the “higher hand” in negotiations is already being seen by followers on social media as a method for Oscar to dodge the struggle. Why would De La Hoya need his golden goose to be plucked clear by Jaron Ennis to break the cash earlier than it begins rolling in by the truckload?

Vergil Jr. didn’t look that good tonight in opposition to Erickson. He appeared gradual, stiff, and plodding in his efficiency in opposition to Lubin. If Ortiz Jr. fought somebody who may transfer, field, and punch arduous like Ennis, it might need been a nasty night time on the workplace for him.

“Cash received’t be a difficulty as a result of there will probably be sufficient cash within the pot. I’m going to take a seat down with Eddie Hearn, and we clearly have the higher hand as a result of he’s [Vergil Ortiz] the higher man, and see if we will come to phrases. I’m certain we are going to,” stated Oscar De La Hoya on the post-fight press convention, letting the media know that Ortiz Jr. would be the A-side within the negotiations with Jaron Ennis.

De La Hoya is being a promoter, trying to place Vergil Jr. in one of the best ways doable in negotiations.  It seems like clear deflection from Oscar. After all, for those who’re sitting on a large oil properly that may herald gazillions, you are taking the technique of choking again by limiting manufacturing to get most restoration by bringing it in slowly.

“It was good. Lubin was sitting on the ropes like a sitting goal,” stated promoter Eddie Hearn to Struggle Hub TV, reacting to Vergil Ortiz Jr’s destruction of Erickson Lubin tonight.
