Ricardo Sandoval signs with Golden Boy Promotions, will face Jayson Mama on Feb. 15

Flyweight contender Ricardo Sandoval has signed a take care of Golden Boy Promotions, it was introduced Tuesday afternoon on Golden Boy’s social media platforms.

Golden Boy Promotions President Eric Gomez confirmed to The Ring Wednesday morning that Sandoval will face Jayson Mama on February 15 on the Commerce On line casino in Commerce, California. The ten-round bout will precede the principle occasion bout between Joseph ‘JoJo’ Diaz and Jesus Perez.



Each fights will stream stay on DAZN (9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT).

Gomez said Sandoval, who’s rated No. 8 by The Ring at 112 kilos, is amongst the elite within the division.

“We’re excited,” Gomez informed The Ring. “He’s a world-class fighter. He can problem any of the champions within the close to future.”

Sandoval (23-2, 2 knockouts) has fought on earlier playing cards promoted by Golden Boy in Southern California. He resides within the Los Angeles suburb of Rialto and has a powerful following within the space. 

In his final bout on October 21, Sandoval defeated fringe contender Victor Sandoval by unanimous determination. The victory over Victor Sandoval befell over 4 months after Ricardo Sandoval defeated Rocco Santomauro, additionally by determination.

The 25-year-old has received his final three fights since shedding a detailed majority determination loss to contender David Jimenez of Costa Rica in July 2022. Sandoval additionally has victories over Jay Harris and Carlos Buitrago. 

Mama (19-1, 10 KOs), who resides in Basic Santos Metropolis within the Philippines, defeated Robert Paradero by unanimous determination in his final battle on June 6. 



The 26-year-old has received his final three fights since shedding by unanimous determination to then-IBF world flyweight titleholder Sunny Edwards in December 2021.
