Ricciardo wanted low-key final race, RB CEO insists

Oct.20 (GMM) The CEO of Crimson Bull-owned RB says Daniel Ricciardo really requested for the information about his staff axe to be delayed till after the Singapore GP weekend was over.

Followers, rival drivers, and even Max Verstappen and RB staff boss Laurent Mekies mentioned the way in which Crimson Bull didn’t permit Ricciardo’s last race to be correctly celebrated in Singapore was a misstep.

“If he can’t deal with it and say it his manner, it’s a little bit of a disgrace,” mentioned Verstappen.

Mekies agreed, telling a reporter: “Sure, you’re proper, it was not splendid to undergo the weekend in that manner.

“It’s a call that, in hindsight, we might or might not do in another way.”

Crimson Bull F1 advisor Dr Helmut Marko justified the technique on the premise of “compelling causes associated to industrial agreements”.

However RB CEO Peter Bayer informed Sky Deutschland that it was Ricciardo who requested for the lower-profile last race in Singapore.

“From a industrial communication perspective, it may have been organised in another way,” he admitted in Austin.

“However what’s most necessary for us as a staff was that we communicated very transparently and really, very brazenly and truthfully with Daniel,” Bayer, who like Ricciardo is Australian, added.

“We spoke to him once more on the Wednesday earlier than the race and he mentioned ‘No, let’s maintain it low key’. We then spoke to him once more on Saturday evening, at 2am in Singapore, and he mentioned ‘No, I simply need to race, and people who are necessary to me know already’.

“As I mentioned, we may have made a giant fireworks show about it, however that was not what he needed.”

Some suppose the affair was a bitter finish to the Ricciardo-Crimson Bull story, however Bayer insists that he nonetheless will get together with the 35-year-old.

“We had him on the cellphone the day earlier than yesterday,” he mentioned. “He’s completely satisfied, he’s tremendous, he’s at peace. He’s proud of the way in which it went.”

Bayer even says Ricciardo might re-appear within the System 1 paddock earlier than the tip of the season.

“We’ll see. Let’s be shocked,” he mentioned.

“Proper now, he’s centered on himself, his mates, his household, and he’s completely satisfied and happy. I additionally suppose it’s nice that the opposite drivers are reacting in the way in which they’re.

“Daniel has contributed lots to creating this sport what it’s at this time,” added Bayer. “And we celebrated him accordingly. However like I mentioned, the Singapore story is what it’s.”
