Sabalenka overcomes scare to advance at Wuhan Open as Osaka falls


WUHAN, China — High-ranked Aryna Sabalenka overcame an early scare to beat unseeded Rebecca Sramkova 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 on the Wuhan Open on Wednesday.

The defending champion has had a tremendous run in Wuhan — her file is 18-0 whereas successful titles in 2018, 2019 and 2024.



The U.S. Open champion Sabalenka broke her 68th-ranked opponent within the opening sport of the ultimate set and went on earlier than changing her second match level to win in nearly two hours.
