Simona Halep to Appear at CAS Hearing This Week

The 32-year-old Halep will seem earlier than the Courtroom of Arbitration for Sport this week together with her aggressive profession hanging within the steadiness.

The Courtroom of Arbitration for Sport confirmed that the listening to within the arbitration procedures Worldwide Tennis Integrity Company (ITIA) v. Simona Halep will happen this week—February 7-Ninth—on the CAS Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The CAS stated Halep “is not going to make any statements to the media earlier than the top of the listening to.”

Halep’s suspension will run from October 7, 2022 till October 6, 2026, until she wins a diminished sentence on this week’s attraction.

In her attraction, Halep is asking the Courtroom of Arbitration for Sport to put aside the Tribunal’s determination and cut back her suspension.

In accordance with CAS procedures, a panel of arbitrators will hear Halep’s attraction.

Following the listening to, the panel will deliberate and challenge an Arbitral Award containing its determination and the grounds for it.

“Presently, it isn’t doable to point a timeframe for the issuance of the choice,” the CAS stated in an announcement. “The CAS Panel’s determination can be last and binding, excluding the events’ proper to file an attraction to the Swiss Federal Tribunal inside 30 days on restricted grounds.”

The listening to in Halep’s attraction will start on Wednesday, February 7 at 9:30 am with the events’ opening statements, adopted by the testimony of the actual fact and skilled witnesses.

The oral closing submissions will happen on the final day. The conclusion of the listening to must be at round 3:30 pm on Friday, February 9, the CAS stated.
