Singapore Open: Dart suffers first round defeat

British No. 4 Harriet Dart has been knocked out within the opening spherical of the Singapore Open after a straight-set defeat to Switzerland’s Jil Teichmann.

The pair have met twice earlier than — within the 2023 Australian Open and in Eastbourne in 2022 — every successful one match nevertheless it was Teichmann who took the win in Singapore 6-3, 6-1.

Teichmann, the world No. 128, saved all seven of Dart’s break factors and secured three aces within the second set to ease previous Dart into the second spherical of the event.

Dart joins Emma Raducanu because the second Brit to be knocked out within the first spherical at this yr’s Singapore Open after the event’s seventh seed fell to a shock defeat by the hands of world No. 101 Cristina Bucșa on Monday.
