CHICAGO — The Cubs used Tuesday night time as an opportunity to honor Javier Báez, who made his return to Wrigley Subject with the Tigers three years after being dealt away by the North Siders. The ballclub performed a stirring montage video pregame, and Báez stepped onto the sphere to wave to his outdated viewers.
Dansby Swanson, the Gold Glove shortstop who anchors the Cubs’ present core, then helped information Chicago to a 3-1 victory to open the three-game set. Swanson belted a solo homer within the sixth inning and made a handful of slick defensive performs, giving the North Siders a 3rd win by 4 video games on the homestand.
