Tank Davis takes knee, referee refuses to call knockdown

Gervonta “Tank” Davis took a knee within the ninth spherical of tonight’s combat with Lamont Roach, proper after a punch from Roach landed, however referee Steve Willis didn’t rule the choice a knockdown.

Davis took the knee very clearly, then went to his nook to have his face wiped with a towel. Willis, a veteran referee with years of world title expertise, then requested Davis what occurred, and instructed him that when he takes a knee like that, it seems like a knockdown.

However Willis bizarrely didn’t rule a knockdown in one of the crucial ridiculous non-calls you’ll ever see, even in a sport as unusual (and worse) as boxing could be, the place stars are catered to fairly brazenly.

In brief, there’s actually no excuse for Willis to not have known as it a knockdown, apart from Tank Davis is the A-side cash man of this occasion.

A referee merely can’t simply resolve to disregard this, as if the 30-year-old man with 12 years {of professional} expertise doesn’t perceive the foundations of the sport.
