Fireproof Video games – the studio behind eerie puzzle field journey The Room and its equally stellar sequels – has introduced a launch date for its paranormal VR thriller Ghost City. It is coming to Meta Quest on twenty fourth April, with a PCVR/PSVR2 launch due later this 12 months.
Ghost City, for those who’re unfamiliar, whisks gamers again to 1983, the place they’re going to tackle the position of ghost hunter Edith Penrose. Edith runs a profitable paranormal detective company in London together with her flatmate and, as Fireproof places it, “she’s nearly up-to-date together with her hire and the ghosts in her toilet mirror have been much less demanding than traditional.”
Sadly, Edith’s world is turned the wrong way up when her brother goes lacking – and so begins a quest to find his whereabouts, first taking her to a distant Scottish island searching for a gifted clairvoyant, and later by the supernatural underbelly of London.
All this unfolds throughout “giant navigable environments” the place gamers will work together with totally motion-captured characters, each alive and lifeless. “Discover a wide range of atmospheric areas with a controller in every hand and a torch to mild your means,” Fireproof explains. “Use the dexterity of your palms to beat tactile puzzles, forged spells and even summon troubled spirits to maneuver them on to the following world.”
Fireproof’s The Room collection was an absolute pleasure, mixing cleverly tactile head scratchers with some deliciously sinister atmospherics – and the studio’s most up-to-date sport, 2020’s The Room VR: A Darkish Matter, was a specific spotlight. So I am genuinely excited to see how Ghost City performs out. And with a twenty fourth April launch on Meta Quest now confirmed (and PSVR2/PCVR to observe), there is not for much longer to attend. Oh, and for those who’re on the lookout for extra goggle-based leisure, here is all the pieces introduced on this week’s VR Video games Showcase.
