Urshela signs MLB deal with Atlanta as Riley hits IL

With Austin Riley sidelined by a fractured proper hand, the Braves agreed to a Main League contract with veteran third baseman Gio Urshela, the crew introduced on Tuesday. Riley was positioned on the 10-day injured listing, and Atlanta moved left-hander A.J. Minter to the 60-day IL to clear a spot on the 40-man roster.

Urshela, 32, was launched by the Tigers on Sunday after hitting .243 with 5 homers and a .619 OPS over 92 video games for Detroit this season.

A lifetime .273/.318/.412 hitter over 9 seasons with Cleveland, the Blue Jays, Yankees, Twins, Angels and Tigers, Urshela may see common enjoying time on the sizzling nook for the Braves within the coming weeks.

Atlanta introduced Monday that Riley is anticipated to overlook roughly six to eight weeks after fracturing his proper hand when he was hit by a pitch on Sunday.
