Vancouver to host Davis Cup qualifying tie between Canada and Brazil


Vancouver will host Canada’s first-round tie with Brazil within the Davis Cup qualifiers, Tennis Canada introduced Thursday.

One of the best-of-five tie will happen Feb. 6-7 on the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports activities Centre on the College of British Columbia campus.



The winner will advance to the second spherical of qualifying for the worldwide males’s match, set for September 2026.

Ninth-ranked Canada enters the showdown with No. 18 Brazil having gained 10 of their final 12 ties at house. The 2 groups final met in 2007 on the Group I Americas stage, with host Brazil profitable 3-1.

The Canadians have gained their final three Davis Cup ties in Vancouver, together with upset wins over Spain and Italy on their option to the semifinals in 2013, and most not too long ago a 3-2 win over Japan in 2015.
