Xu wins singles and doubles titles at Wrexham Open

Welsh teenager Mimi Xu secured the largest victory of her profession to this point by beating Mika Stojsavljevic to win the Lexus Wrexham Open.

Xu defeated her fellow British teenager and former Junior Billie Jean King Cup team-mate 6-3 7-5 within the closing.

Later within the day Xu teamed up with Ella McDonald to win the doubles title.

Within the singles closing, the 18-year-old from Swansea made a powerful begin, successful 5 video games in a row and breaking 3 times to storm out to a 5-1 lead.

Stojsavljevic proved extra strong on serve within the second set and the younger Brit saved seven break factors to remain in rivalry.

Nonetheless, with the scores locked at 5-5, Xu managed to seal the all-important break earlier than serving out a landmark victory on her third match level.

“It is truthfully felt wonderful,” mentioned Xu.

“It has been so good, the environment, the group, the surroundings, I’ve cherished each minute of it. I truthfully don’t have any phrases to explain how I really feel in the mean time.”
