World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz and No. 4 Novak Djokovic have each pulled out of the Madrid Open due to lingering accidents.

Alcaraz, the seven-time Grand Slam winner, will miss out on the match within the Spanish capital with a wrist damage after additionally having skipped the Barcelona Open this week.

“Madrid is house, one of the crucial particular locations on the calendar for me, and that is why it hurts a lot not to have the ability to play right here for the second 12 months in a row,” Alcaraz posted to social media. “It hurts particularly not to have the ability to be in entrance of my followers, in a match that is so particular to me. Djokovic hasn’t competed for the reason that BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. He missed the Miami Open due to a proper shoulder damage and skipped the Monte Carlo Masters.

Djokovic is a three-time champion in Madrid.
