Alcaraz reaches Japan Open quarterfinals, praises physio for ankle treatment

TOKYO — Carlos Alcaraz superior to the quarterfinals of the Japan Open with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Zizou Bergs on Saturday after which paid tribute to his physiotherapist following an ankle harm scare.

The highest-ranked Alcaraz landed awkwardly on his left ankle throughout his opening match on Thursday and was not sure how he would really feel in opposition to Bergs.

He held up properly, saying he “may play usually,” and arrange a last-eight assembly with Brandon Nakashima of the US.

“It was robust and it was a extremely necessary day and a half, I needed to get better nearly as good as I may,” Alcaraz mentioned when requested about his ankle. “I’ve mentioned it earlier than and I’ll say it once more, I’ve one of the best physio on this planet, who I belief 100%.

“The work he has accomplished for the ankle has been nice. I may play usually, which is nice. Typically I used to be apprehensive about some actions, once I may really feel the ankle, however basically I performed some nice tennis, a terrific match.”
