Doornbos praises Piastri mentality as gap to Norris grows

Jul.30 (GMM) Oscar Piastri’s resilience within the face of setbacks has earned reward from former F1 driver and Dutch commentator Robert Doornbos, because the McLaren star continues to tug away from teammate Lando Norris on the planet championship standings.

Talking on De Stamtafel for Ziggo Sport, Doornbos highlighted Piastri’s response to the controversial time penalty at Silverstone – a second that gifted Norris the win and left the Australian fuming.

“I love how Oscar handles setbacks,” mentioned Doornbos. “I feel that’s actually spectacular.”

He revealed he had even messaged Piastri’s supervisor, Mark Webber, to specific his respect. “Silverstone was, after all, a really damaging second. He was dominant and misplaced the victory because of the FIA’s time penalty.”

“However he arrived on the circuit on Thursday and instantly mentioned he was very optimistic in regards to the race. Lando didn’t wish to learn about momentum and noticed it as simply one other weekend. You simply see a distinction in mentality.”
