Josh Matheny on Being a First Year Pro: “A little bit harder than I would have anticipated”

2026 Bergen Swim Competition

First-year professional swimmer Josh Matheny competed on the Bergen Swim Competition final weekend, inserting 4th within the 50 (27.81) and 100 Breast (1:00.48) and third within the 200 Breast (2:13.46). The NCAA All-American for Indiana mentioned it has been a bit more difficult than he anticipated transitioning to the professional life, not at all times having the group surroundings round him throughout coaching when the faculty group is off at convention or NCAA Championships.

Nonetheless, Matheny mentioned he’s adjusting and is worked up to only have one huge meet, Pan Pacific Championships, to concentrate on for the summer season.
