A brand new regulation was launched in honor of 20-month-old River Wilson, who drowned in a pool at a residential day care within the Bronx.
Democratic Congressman Ritchie Torres says a number of failures led to River’s dying final month.
They included a scarcity of grownup supervision, insufficient security inspections, no fencing across the pool, and no alarms on the doorways or within the pool.
Torres stated that “River’s Legislation” would ban swimming swimming pools at residential day care amenities.
“It will require residential day care facilities to be outfitted with alarms,” Torres stated. “There isn’t a higher act of negligence than the neglect of an toddler or toddler who’s left inside falling distance of a swimming pool.”
