Shnaider One Win from Third Title of 2024 in Budapest

By Chris Oddo | @TheFanChild | Saturday July 20, 2024

A banner yr for Russia’s Diana Shnaider continues on the ATP Tour. The 20-year-old will bid for her third WTA title – and third on three surfaces – on Sunday in Budapest, after defeating Eva Lys 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday.

Shnaider, ranked at a career-high No.28, will face Aliaksandra Sasnovich for the title.

134-ranked Sasnovich defeated Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 – she is bidding for her maiden WTA title.

Shnaider, a former NCAA standout at North Carolina State College, has received titles in Hua Hin (laborious courtroom) and Unhealthy Homburg (grass) to date in 2024. She is bidding to turn into the youngest participant to win WTA singles titles on all three surfaces in a single yr since 19-year-old Caroline Wozniacki in 2009.
