Texas gained a key recruiting battle on Saturday when it landed a dedication from in-state five-star security Jonah Williams.
The No. 10 recruit within the 2025 class within the 247Sports Composite, Williams selected the Longhorns over LSU, Texas A&M, Oregon and USC. He introduced his choice in a ceremony at Courville Stadium at Galveston (Texas) Ball Excessive Faculty.
With Williams’ dedication, Texas moved up from twelfth to seventh within the workforce rankings.
Williams is the second five-star recruit in Texas’ 2025 class and the Longhorns’ seventh dedication who ranks within the prime 150 nationally. He formally visited LSU, A&M, Oregon, USC and Ohio State in June and took an unofficial go to to Texas on July 25.
Williams can be a baseball star as a pitcher and heart fielder and is predicted to be a 2025 MLB Draft prospect. His older brother, Nick Williams, was a second-round decide of the Texas Rangers within the 2012 draft.
Jonah Williams has performed each receiver and defensive again for Ball Excessive and was the district defensive participant of the 12 months as a junior, recording 58 tackles, 4 tackles for loss and 4 interceptions (with three decide sixes). He returned 4 mixed punts and kickoffs for touchdowns and caught 20 passes for 474 yards and eight touchdowns as a receiver.
