Tiafoe smashes racket in Tokyo; Shapovalov falls

TOKYO — Frances Tiafoe smashed his racket as he misplaced to qualifier Marton Fucsovics within the first spherical of the Japan Open on Wednesday, whereas Denis Shapovalov additionally suffered an upset loss.

The eighth-seeded Tiafoe struggled together with his first serve in a 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 loss to Fucsovics and smashed his racket towards the court docket floor simply after the Hungarian sealed the victory with a forehand winner.
