Vicente Luque’s submission victory over former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley could go down as the largest win of his profession.
Luque entered UFC 260 on the heels of back-to-back stoppage victories, organising a crossroads battle in opposition to Woodley on the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. After dropping his title to Kamaru Usman, Woodley’s profession took a downturn, dropping his subsequent two bouts. The assembly with Luque was a do-or-die state of affairs, and “The Silent Murderer” shut the door on Woodley’s UFC profession with a first-round D’Arce choke.
Luque (22-10-1 MMA, 15-6 UFC) returns to the octagon at UFC 310. He takes on Themba Gorimbo (14-4 MMA, 4-1 UFC), who fills in for the initially scheduled Nick Diaz.
UFC 310 (pay-per-view, ESPN 2, ESPN+) takes at T-Cellular Enviornment in Las Vegas.
